My block of the month quilt pattern, Beyond the Gate, is ready for release!
The photo of the completed quilt is rather small,

The Journey to Tassafaronga is finally showing!

The long awaited day has arrived! I’ve put up two movie trailers as a teaser to get you interested in this true story about a journey in search of…Well, I don’t want to spoil the ending.
From the trailers you realize the setting was WWII, at least that’s where it …
Someone in your past or present served in WWII, and if you ever heard the memories come to life by a military man/woman you would understand the depth of love and pride they felt as their comrades and buddies fell, one after another until their very lives took on a new meaning.
This movie has many of those same feelings. How does the past influence the present? How can one explain raw emotions? How does something that happened over sixty years ago impact the psyche? Can one take those experiences of the military GI and glean the essence of a life?
I’ll leave answering those questions up to you.
Below are a few words by the director/producer/ of the movie you are about to see. I hope you will take about 25 minutes out of your day to relish the experiences of …
The Journey to Tassafaronga is not so much about a physical trip
although I did reach my destination
(even if it was only in my mind), but more about a search of understanding of
who I was. I began my journey long before I watched
Lisa Kudrow’s television series entitled
“Who Do You Think You Are?”.
She had this to say about her series:
“ This show personalizes history and turns it into a gripping narrative,” said Kudrow.
“The most striking thing about the show is the realization of
how connected we all are.”
It was the same realization and conclusion that I had discovered on my
“Journey to Tassafaronga”.
I found a deeper understanding and appreciation about
duty, honor, country and the meaning of love.
Please share this movie with a military friend, a WWII survivor,
or simply a loved one.
It’s not the kind of trailer you pull…

Instead this movie trailer contains excerpts of a speech so few have even heard. Yet, it ranks with President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address as one of the most moving and greatest public speeches ever given. Do you know when and who delivered this speech? I think it worthwhile for every parent to sit down with their children and listen to the excerpts of this moving speech!
Watch the trailer below to experience a few of those moving thoughts delivered by…
And, the movie is coming soon!
This comment came from a viewer pre-screening the movie, Journey to Tassafaronga.
“I watched your movie. It is fantastic, adventuresome, tragic, beautiful. Took me back aboard. Wish it could play on some TV station, it would make people think.
My hat is off to you for a fantastic video.”
Sherman Walgren
Is this another quilt movie?

Check out this movie trailer! Its a teaser trailer for a “gotta see” movie. The trailer, and the movie, weren’t produced by a big film company with lots of money…but it has great music, compelling videos and is interesting and heartwarming to watch. It’s a winner!
The movie is a story about love, not the gushy kind, but true love. It is set within a historical background and I know you’ll enjoy the trailer and…probably can’t wait to see the movie. Of course, it will be seen right here on this blog! You won’t even have to pay for it, just sit back and enjoy. I wouldn’t call it a chick flick, so ask your hubby to watch it with you. By the way, my hubby made the trailer and the movie!
Fat quarters in the snow…
margaret | December 29, 2009
We can go for years without snow in Texas (the panhandle gets some, but not central Texas), yet today we are having our third snow event in a month. It is just so unbelievable that I had to take pics and hubby worked his movie magic. He has a knack for the music he pics and adjusts; this music is just beautiful.
We had near blizzard conditions on Christmas eve and the first white Christmas in this area since 1927! Walking around the farm on Christmas afternoon it was much like looking at fabric. There were so many patterns in the snow it was difficult to pick the one I liked best. The snow drifts left such smooth curves, and the wind had been over 50 mph so patterns were throughout the white carpet.
It was so interesting to see all the tracts the animals left behind. You could see if the deer had been walking or loping, coyotes and jackrabbits had been looking for food, and the ever present bunny feet. I hammered a hole in the icy water trough for the donkeys because they wouldn’t wade through the snow to the pond.
In addition to the beauty of the snow there was the added bonus of not being able to go anywhere! The days just turned into a relaxing quilt retreat.
