This class was developed because so many of you wanted to learn
the technique used to create super realistic portrait quilts.

The nice thing about this technique is you don’t have to know how to draw.
The computer does the work for you!

This is a sample video of what to expect in the class.
Three sets of videos are available (and you can watch any/all of them)
to accommodate your software.
Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, & the free software Gimp.

This is a 4 week online class – work at your convenience!

recess, handouts, and homework.

Next class begins Feb. 11, 2012

I’ll teach you how to use your computer to create your own

Actually, there is much more to the class than just learning
how to make the patterns.

You will learn techniques on using specific tools, menus,
resolution, photo adjustment, cloning, histograms, cropping,
layers, separating values, and more!

Plus, how to complete the quilt.

It is a 4 week online class beginning Sept. 10, 2011.
You will use your own photographs to make the patterns!

The class has step-by-step videos you can watch,

Video instruction is for three different software packages
(and one of the software applications is free). Can’t beat that!

And…no drawing required!

SewCalGal has finished the coursework in my recent learn to make your own quilt patterns online class and has some thoughts to share with you.

I was thrilled she took the time from her busy schedule to review the course and share her insights.

I encourage you to visit her blog and not only read her class critique, but also enjoy the other events posted on her blog.

Below are a couple of excerpts from her post.

“This class was packed full of great insights in each lesson. While this particular class is targeted towards quilters interested in making Portrait Art Quilts, I think this was actually one of the best online classes I’ve seen for photo editing.

Thus, I definitely recommend this particular class for any quilter interested in making beautiful Portrait Art Quilts, but also for those that want to learn more about photo editing tools.”

“My general impression is that Margaret’s classes are insightful and well worth the money and investment of time.

“There is also an optional 57 page document that you can purchase, without taking this class (or get a 50% discount if you buy a copy when you sign up for the class). This document is very well written, with excellent visuals. It is an excellent source of providing tips, instructions and inspiration on using tools to edit digital photographs for use in quilts. It also went several steps further, in sharing insights on how to turn these beautiful photographs into quilts…award winning quilts!
This document alone is worth more than the fee of this class!”

Thanks SewCalGal!

Just as color is important to a quilt, colors of roses have meanings as well.

The white rose is the bridal rose and represents love stronger than death.

The red rose is the lover’s rose; it is the ultimate symbol of romantic love. A single red rose says I love you.

The yellow rose is given as a sign of friendship and has special meaning in Texas.

The pink rose is the rose of grace and elegance. The rose of sweet thoughts and gentility is a nice way to say thank you.

What would you like to say to that special someone with your rosebud quilt? Anyone would be happy to receive this single rose, so make two and keep one for yourself!

Pick your color and join me in the three-week class to learn to “appliquilt” and make this lovely rose. At 16.75″ x 33″ it is just the perfect size for your wall.

The class begins July 25. To register, visit my website at www.chiseledincloth.com and click on “online classes”. Click on applique patterns if you can’t make the class but would like the pattern.
