I know your haven’t even gotten all your gifts purchased yet, but it isn’t too early to think of the happy new year celebration.

I think it might be fun on New Year’s Eve about 8pm to turn the clock forward to midnight and celebrate the New Year with your children. Play games, eat snacks and celebrate!

To help with the celebration, I’ve drawn up some 2010 glasses in three sizes and a party hat (both are free). Print them on card stock.

Cut out the hat and overlap it in the back and tape the overlap. Punch a small hole in the two circles and insert ribbon to keep the hats on your heads. Don’t forget to make enough for all of you.

Cut out the glasses and the center area and try them on. There are three sizes, so I hope one of them fits!

The free patterns are located at www.patterns2quilt.com.

I’ve decided to separate my portrait and pictorial work from my quilt patterns and I’ve just gone live with the new pattern website, www.patterns2quilt.com. It isn’t totally complete, but new websites take time. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to visit.

I also gave a make over to the portrait website, www.chiseledincloth.com. The make over isn’t complete either; as time permits I’ll get it completed.

These websites keep getting in the way of the fun BOM I’m designing. It is a six month, queen size BOM. I’m writing the instructions and soon it will be off to the testers.

Remember stringing popcorn and making ornaments for the Christmas tree when you were young? Or, helping your children or grandchildren make ornaments? I’ve thought of those times and designed an easy way to make those colorful round balls that hang from the branches and I wanted to share it with you. I have two different designs, but basically the same directions.

You can print the 8 1/2 x 11 page onto card stock and have the children (or you) color them and add glitter or sequins or whatever will make the sparkle. Or, you can work with them with fabric. I’ve given directions on the page for working with fabric or paper. Just hang a ribbon on them and let them dangle from the tree branches.

Think of how proud they will be by making their own ornaments. Save them from year to year to remember the fun you had putting them together.

If you want the ornament files, just visit my pattern website.

Here is another of my continuous line stitching blocks that will fit inside a six-inch block.

This pattern could be used on a longarm machine, sewing machine, or for hand quilting.

This continuous stitching block measures 5.5” x 5.5” just the size to fit into a 6”x 6” block. I have included centering lines to help with positioning.

For size 8.25” x 8.25”, print and enlarge it at 150%, or size 3.5” x 3.5”, print and reduce it at 63%.
