Quilt Block Becomes Town Logo

Posted By on June 23, 2011

An unexpected email arrived from a quilter with some exciting news!
Carol gave me permission to use the email contents and photos!

Dear Margaret, I took a workshop from you in Beaumont, TX.
I have moved to a small community just outside Beaumont named Taylor Landing.
We were named one of the 24 finalists as an All-American City.
One of the activities involved was a quilt block.

My inspiration was a picture I took and I remembered the
crane project from your workshop.

I did an adaptation of the crane for my block. I am attaching pictures.
Everyone loves the block and it represents our village so well
they would like to adopt it as our logo.

I felt that once it had gone past the quilt block I needed to get your permission.

May we have your permission to use my adaptation of your crane as our logo?
Carol

Carol sent these two photos:

Isn’t that fun! She has turned her block into the town’s logo!

Below is the original quilt design I shared with the guild and from which Carol made modifications.

This quilt pattern and others are located on our pattern website.
