The weaver of threads…

| March 6, 2011

Today, March 6 is a significant day in history. You didn’t know?

I’ll let the video explain…

Each of us has a gift or specialty and I think Phillip Bucklew has the gift of movie making.
How else could he weave threads of music, history, quilts, the cowboy way,
a tribute to the old west, native Americans, and memories of our forefathers (and more)
together to form such a beautiful offering for us to view.

We hope you enjoy the video
(and I hope you’ll leave a comment to congratulate him for his excellent work!)

We Remember The Alamo!

March 6, 1836 6.30 am…

…Last firing over. The Alamo has fallen

Between 182 and 260 Texans held off 2400 Mexican troops for 13 days.

“In one of the greatest battles in history, one side will fight without solders.
They were: bankers, farmers, lawyers, husbands, brothers,
fathers, outcasts, dreamers, and legends.”

March news in February!

| February 15, 2011

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to visit our blog during March. We will have some fun things to share. If you get the newsletter, “the latest” you’ll know about them on March 1 when we send out the news. If not, you’ll have to keep checking back as things will appear periodically. Well, we want you to keep checking back even if you subscribe to the newsletter! :)

If you haven’t subscribed, or if you did and your name didn’t appear on the list, please sign up. It’s right on the left of this post and you only need to put in your name and email. Don’t forget you get the “Lets Be Friends” pattern free for signing up! I’ll send the back newsletters as well because there are links in it to things you won’t want to miss.

Not only will there be a giveaway beginning March 1, but you won’t want to miss the new movie/video, “Spirit of the West”. It’s not the same short video made to highlight the quilt with the same name; however, it does have great music (as the director knows how to pick the perfect audio to enhance the videos).

This Spirit of the West does include some quilt images, but it’s so much more than just about quilts. If you love history, particularly history of the west, you will enjoy this movie. Even if you don’t love history, you will enjoy the work gone into making this beautiful video.

The premier date isn’t an arbitrary date, it coincides with something within the video.  On the right side of this blog is the movie trailer…it’s just a snippet to encourage you to watch the full presentation March 6…right here! Of course, if you subscribe to the newsletter there will be a link to see it on March 1!

Latest quilt pattern with a video!

| January 11, 2011

“Spirit of the West” is the latest quilt pattern by Trails of Thread. I hope you’ll take a minute to watch this short video with close ups of the quilt and some really great music. The essence of the quilt is to capture the old west and its influences; a link from the past that is present today.

More information about the pattern (can be three different sizes) is located on the pattern website at: www.patterns2quilt.com.

Great gift for the quilter in your life!

| December 22, 2010

My next online quilt class begins Feb. 5, 2011. This is a class on how to make patterns from your own photographs for pictorial and portrait quilts. It is a 4 week class with lots of extras.

You can work in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or the free software Gimp. Watch all the screen capture “how to” videos for any or all of the three software packages. Pause them and try out the technique and work along or just watch them and work later.

Once you have taken the class you are always welcome to return to another class (no charge). A refresher course for free!

For more information go to www.chiseledincloth.com. Click on “online classes”. Registration is open!
